Ohio’s Geology in Core and Outcrop Receives Outstanding Publication Award

The Association of Earth Science Editors (AESE) awarded Ohio’s Geology in Core and Outcrop: A Field Guide for Citizens and Environmental and Geotechnical Investigators as an Outstanding Publication 2014. The publication, a joint effort between Gregory Schumaker and Michael Angle both with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Brian Mott with DLZ Corporation, was recognized for demonstrating outstanding editing, design, illustration, writing, effectiveness of production cost, and overall effectiveness in achieving its publication goal.

The spiral-bound publication is printed on waterproof paper using waterproof inks and is designed for use indoors and in the field. It summarizes the state’s geology through an introductory section and 65 fact sheets describing more than 100 surficial and bedrock units found across the Ohio landscape.
