Panwi Feasibility Study

Sechi, India

The  Sechi Small Hydro Power Plant is located 140 km northeast of Shimla, India in the state of Himachal Pradesh along a tributary of the Satluj River. The run of the river 4.5 MW project features two Francis 2.25 MW turbines. The plant has a net head of 126 meters and features a 244 meter penstock. Construction was completed in 2012. Estimated design energy is 21 MU.

Debt financing for the execution of the project was provided by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, DEG of Germany, and the State Bank of India with equity financing for the project being provided by IHDC and Infrastructure India PLC. Power from the project is sold to the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board thru a long term PPA.
