USPS Vehicle Maintenance Facility

The United States Postal Service (USPS) in Detroit is planning to construct a new Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF) and transportation operations facility which will be approximately 40,000 Sq.ft.

The space program includes new vehicle maintenance bays, parts storage, vehicle rehabilitation bays, tire shop, wash bays, fueling station, indoor storage for selected vehicles, locker rooms for operators and mechanics, administrative offices, dispatch, a union office, and other ancillary functions. Site development includes the adaptive reuse of a former industrial site, parking for 200 vehicles, trucks, and trailers, new site utilities, security fencing, landscaping, and other related site improvements.

DLZ is performing full-service architecture, engineering, and survey services including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineering, survey, maintenance equipment design, and cost estimating services. DLZ is engaged in concept design services. Upon approval of the concept design, DLZ will advance the design through the design development and construction document phases as well as bidding and construction administration.
