Willow Road Improvements

Chicago, Illinois

DLZ served as a subconsultant to provide traffic engineering services, required for the preparation of a preliminary engineering report, for improvements to Willow Road for IDOT. The project area extended from Illinois Route 43 to I-94 (approximately 1.75 miles). The proposed improvement includes geometric modifications through either widening/resurfacing or reconstruction to accommodate existing and projected travel demands. Field staff collected 12-hour manual turning-movement classification counts and performed capacity analyses using Highway Capacity Software (HCS).

DLZ engineering staff prepared a crash analysis incorporating procedures from the Highway Safety Manual with recommendations of countermeasures. DLZ also completed intersection design studies for six signalized intersections in the project area. DLZ assisted in the regular Community Advisory Group meetings and the numerous public meetings regarding the project. Traffic signal plans and signal interconnect plans were also prepared for seven intersections during the design phase of the project.
