Morgan County Community Justice Center
Morgan County Board of Commissioners hired DLZ to develop a masterplan and design to revision their County government facilities to the Morgan County Judicial Campus. Established as a county in 1822, Morgan County celebrated their bicentennial in 2022.
With a historic courthouse on the national register built in 1855-1857, the courthouse stands proud in the community, but has many needs. DLZ developed a facility study and masterplan on how to improve the historic courthouse, the ca. 1996 annex, as well as the new justice campus.
The three-phase project develops a new justice campus with 6 courts and renovation of the annex for the related justice system such as Clerk, Prosecutor, Probation, and Title IV-D. The historic courthouse will be renovated for county administrative offices. In addition, a bicentennial park, 200 car parking lot, and a new annex for Extension, Soil & Water, and Recycling are being developed.
Overall, the project has a construction cost of approximately $55M. Design work has commenced with all phases of construction to be completed in the fall of 2025.
