Storm Water/Waste Water/ Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO)
We have prepared plans for sanitary lateral, submain, trunk and interceptor sewers and both detention and retention facilities. We have also conducted storm water management and permitting studies and developed plans for combined sewer overflow projects requiring computer modeling, water quality sampling and analyses.
DLZ has been involved in the design and construction of miles of major tunnel interceptor projects through complex geotechnical conditions. These projects require special engineering considerations for dropping large surface flows hundreds of feet to deep tunnels. Our design of these structures has resulted in numerous awards and recognitions by industry organizations.
Hydropower and Dams
DLZ works with private dam owners, state and local dam safety agencies, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the design, evaluation, construction, and inspection of new or existing earthfill, rockfill, and concrete dams. DLZ has extensive experience and a thorough understanding of both the physical and regulatory environments that control dam safety issues. Our experienced, in-house personnel bring deep expertise in relevant areas including hydrologic/hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, drilling and laboratory testing, surveying, environmental and ecological services and landscape architecture.
Our dam safety inspection and condition survey services include visual inspections, including those requiring access by snooper truck, floating plant, or diving; hydrologic/hydraulic modeling; drilling, sampling, and testing; stability, settlement, underseepage, and uplift modeling; seismic studies; instrumentation installation and monitoring; review and analysis of performance; recommendations for remedial repairs and rehabilitation; and reporting to regulatory agencies.
