After completing a feasibility study in 2012, DLZ was selected to provide architectural and engineering services for a new Starke County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center in Knox, Indiana. The modern, 47,500-square-foot faciliy was designed and built for safety, efficiency, and effective rehabilitation. The building houses the sheriff’s office and courtroom suite, along with a jail that includes a booking and intake area, a small medical unit, indoor and outdoor recreation spaces and bed space for 145 inmates – an increase of nearly 90 beds.
