Center Township Fire Station, Architecture and Engineering
Center Township, commissioned DLZ to provide complete architecture and engineering services associated with a new volunteer fire station/EMS facility. This new fire station in LaPorte County, Indiana, would replace an existing station. The current fire station at LaPorte County was an antiquated facility. It had exceeded its useful life and was inadequate to fit the needs of the department. The new facility would be 12,290 SF building that includes a three-bay apparatus and living quarters. Additionally, it would have an adaptable design to allow for future additions to include a training room and administrative area.
The site was an undeveloped 9.7-acre parcel of land and had a drainage tile running through the northern half of the site with a 150-foot-wide drainage easement. The site includes dedicated public parking and a diesel fueling station dedicated for the apparatus vehicles.
