Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA)
DLZ was selected to provide CATA with professional architectural/engineering services to assist in the planning, design, and subsequent construction of the final three phases of a multiple phase renovation and expansion project to the main transit facility located on Tranter Street in Lansing. Funding was provided through a combination of Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Grants. As a result, the design and project process followed FTA regulations.
The scope of the three phases consisted of the renovation of existing on-site storage; expansion of the bus storage facility; and reconstructing vehicle ingress and egress, traffic flow, and parking on the property. In addition to these phases, the project included planning and design of a variety of “to be determined” projects throughout the service area. All projects to date have required site analysis, review of bus and pedestrian circulation, and design of ADA compliant facilities.
