Gerald R. Ford International Airport – Public Safety Project

DLZ was contracted by the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority to provide A/E design services for the relocation and consolidation of the airport’s Public Safety services including the Primary Communications Center (PCC), Operations, Police, Badging and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) services.

DLZ conducted an extensive Needs Assessment, Programming, and Feasibility Study to investigate options to meet the diverse and complex public safety needs of the Client. Planning options accounted for large, concurrent renovation projects, as well as an evolving Airport Masterplan.

The solution was a phased approach that included both renovation and new construction in public and secure areas. The project included new space for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Airport Police, Badging, Conference, and Break Rooms. The following phase of development included a new Airport Operations Center and planning is on-going for a new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting facility (ARFF).
