John G. Shedd Aquarium

DLZ performed high-definition scanning (HDS) services for at the John G. Shedd Aquarium, Chicago, Illinois. The services consisted of dimensioning and detailing the fresh water supply to the sea lion exhibit tanks. DLZ provided a 3D AutoCad drawing of the supply line within the basement of the Aquarium alongside and around the tank area and also in the floor above the tanks.

In addition to the fresh water supply line, DLZ was able to later include any conflicts to the proposed design of a new supply line. These included return lines, sewer line, electrical and HVAC ducts, enabling the engineers to redesign  the steel structure and  avoid  costly delays during the construction process. The redundant data allowed DLZ to provide additional information without making additional visits to the project site.
