Mishawaka Central Park Landscape Architecture, Indiana
DLZ provided professional architectural and engineering design services for the new Mishawaka Central Park Project in Mishawaka, Indiana. The new park project includes the development of a 10-acre parcel located along the St. Joseph River and Riverwalk which connects to a regional network of trails and parks.
The project included the removal and replacement of the former Park with a new Entrance Gateway, Pavilion, Shelters, Comfort Station, Splash Pad, Play Structures, and Lawn. DLZ was a sub-consultant to the Landscape Architect. The Pavilion and Shelters are available for rent for a nominal fee.
The Mishawaka Central Park project draws upon cues from the historical industrial roots of the community as well as adjacent park developments which were created through the Work Project Administration initiative in the 1930s, which used indigenous river stone as an exterior finish material.
