Union County Collins Road Bridge Project
This Union County bridge project consists of the rehabilitation of the 169-foot, three-span structure on CR-78 (Collins Road) over the environmentally sensitive Big Darby Creek. The project consists of a new superstructure with 21 prestressed precast box beams and a new composite reinforced concrete deck. Rehabilitation included sawing of the existing abutments to dowel in new cast-in-place beam seats and recessed reinforced approach slabs. The middle piers were chipped as determined by sounding, repaired reinforcing steel, and patched as needed. A new guardrail was erected with new sections of asphalt pavement.
Inspection and management responsibilities involve measuring and tracking quantities installed, composing daily reports, tracking force account items, organizing material testing, troubleshooting field issues, and obtaining all necessary documentation for the Union County Engineer.
