Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fueling Station, City of Dublin, Ohio

DLZ designed a new compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station for the City of Dublin, Ohio‘s Maintenance Facility. DLZ worked with Marathon Technical Services, a CNG infrastructure specialist on this project.  Additionally, DLZ upgraded and renovated the Maintenance Building in order to safely accommodate CNG vehicles for maintenance and repair.

Compressed Natural Gas Equipment included:

  • Single tower heated regenerative natural gas dryer
  • Duplex electric driven CNG compressor package
  • Natural gas cascade storage system and associated Priority fill/ESD control panel
  • Rough-in for a future CNG cascades
  • Defueling panel
  • Three CNG dispensers
  • Rough-in for two future dispensers

DLZ provided electrical, communications, plumbing, and HVAC design, design for energy conservation measures and standby power services, civil design, asphalt renovation services, renovation of existing facility’s maintenance garages, and methane gas detection systems. Planning of the site layout included developing traffic patterns to allow the use of the existing diesel and gasoline fueling island during and after construction.  Sizing of the CNG equipment and additional site development issues included planning for the adjacent City School District’s possible bus conversions to CNG and having a Time-Fill overnight distribution and parking area.  The CNG equipment layout pad will accommodate two additional 30,000 SCF cascade gas storage racks.
