Overview
DLZ was contracted by the MDOT Superior Region Ishpeming TSC to provide design of a multi-lane roundabout intersection and new municipal utilities.
Process
This project was designed following the latest Reference Information Document (RID) guidelines and 3D modeling utilizing Geopak SS2. The project included roundabout design, capacity analysis, public information campaign, geometric analysis, utility coordination, MOT, ADA sidewalk ramps, cost estimation, and signal removal.
As part of this project, temporary and permanent lighting was designed to maintain safe lighting levels both during construction and for the new roundabout intersection.
The project also included the preparation of several intersection concepts and traffic modeling to accommodate future needs. The roundabout design included central island landscaping.
