Overview

DLZ was selected by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District to complete the Preliminary Engineering for the SR 930 Intersection Improvements project in the City of New Haven.

Process

The intersection of SR 930 and Maplecrest Road has experienced a significant number of rear end crashes, which indicates a congestion issue at the intersection. A Quadrant Roadway in the southeast quadrant is proposed to relieve the congestion as well as increase the safety at the main intersection of SR 930 and Maplecrest Road by eliminating left turns at the intersection. SR 930 and Maplecrest Road will be widened and reconfigured to accommodate a quadrant roadway. A signalized intersection will be added both to the east and south of the existing intersection of SR 930 and Maplecrest Road. The existing shared-use path on Maplecrest Road will be extended south to the project limits and a sidewalk will be added along SR 930 from Maplecrest Road east to the project limits. An existing 3’x3’ box culvert will be replaced under the east leg of SR 930. In addition, the Sheridan Legal drain will be relocated south to accommodate the widened roadway footprint.
