DLZ Designs New Gallia County Jail

Gallia County community gathered on Thursday, June 22, to celebrate the completion of the new Gallia County Jail in Gallipolis, Ohio. DLZ designed the new 32,000 square foot facility that aims to improve safety, address overcrowding, and provide enhanced amenities.

The new jail increases bed capacity from 22 to 120 and offers updated security systems. It is also equipped with video visitation stations, and dedicated areas for food service and medical needs.

The two-story jail is located on recently acquired property behind the Gallia County Courthouse, and replaces the outdated jail built in 1962. This location was a strategic choice for its cost efficiency and reduced transportation time between the jail and courthouse. DLZ worked with Teaming Partner, Granger Construction as the Construction Manager at Risk

The completion of the new Gallia County Jail marks a significant milestone for the community. It showcases the commitment of County Commissioners, the Sheriff’s office, and the entire Gallipolis community to create a safer and more efficient correctional facility.
