DLZ was selected by the Franklin County, Ohio Commissioners to design a new, 850 bed Franklin County Correction Facility in Columbus, Ohio, a commission Eric Ratts, AIA, Principal Architect, attributes to the firm’s reputable and expanding Justice Architecture practice. The new 345,000 square foot facility will be built on a 22.9 acre site on the City’s west side and provide 850 beds, which will be expandable to 2,800 beds. A project goal is to be the first LEED platinum certified correction facility in the world.

With an emphasis on addressing mental health and addiction issues, DLZ plans to create an environment that reduces depression and anxiety, improves physical, emotional and cognitive health and is a more safe, effective and humane institutional environment. DLZ has partnered with HDR, PRIME, AEC, and Crawford Associates for this project, combining local talent and world-class expertise.
