Overview
DLZ was selected by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District to complete the Preliminary Engineering for the SR 120/SR15 Small Towns Pavement Replacement project in the Town of Bristol, Indiana.
Process
This project involved pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation along SR 120 in Bristol from 0.86 miles west of the SR 15 West Junction to 0.41 miles east of the SR 15 East Junction, and along SR 15 from the Norfolk Southern Railroad to the South Junction of SR 120. Improvements included full-depth pavement reconstruction on SR 120 from 0.41 miles west of the SR 15 West Junction to the SR 15 East Junction and throughout the SR 15 corridor, with minor structural overlays on the remaining sections of SR 120. Additional project elements included a new storm sewer system along SR 15 connected to the SR 120 drainage network, pedestrian and ADA accessibility enhancements, roadway lighting upgrades, and infrastructure improvements along designated National Truck Network routes.
DLZ coordinated with seven public and private utility providers, including gas, electric, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and telecommunications companies, to identify, evaluate, and mitigate utility conflicts throughout design development. Also facilitated utility meetings, incorporated relocation requirements into project plans, and maintained communication among stakeholders to support project delivery and schedule adherence.
