Process
Work included a new deck on composite beams along with new parapets, approach and abutment slabs, and approach pavement. New elastomeric bearings were installed on rehabilitated beam seats. Structural steel retrofits were performed to address deficiencies in the moment plates. The end diaphragms were also replaced along the steel strip seal expansion joint assemblies. Work was performed while maintaining 4 lanes of traffic. Median crossovers were constructed to place traffic in contraflow. Work was performed in two construction seasons .
Project Management duties included full submittal review, RFI tracking, progress meeting hosting, payment and material documentation. In addition to on-site responsibilities, the DLZ team kept daily contact with the Contractor Superintendent and OTIC Project Manager for up-to-date status reports. DLZ ran progress reports, reviewed contractor invoices and material submittals and formulated project Change Orders for OTIC approval.
DLZ provided full-time construction inspection as well as Project Management and Administration. On-site construction duties included daily work reports, daily maintenance of traffic reviews, photo-documentation, force account documentation, and close coordination with the OTIC.
