Process

Multiple DLZ offices defined the scope, managed the construction partners, and ensured the facility was able to operate throughout the 3-year phased installation of every major utility system and equipment. Pre-Planning sessions with the Site Operations, Maintenance, project engineers/architects, and construction teams were started during design phases and carried into the implementation phases. The engineering design created the “Big Picture” and then focused on silos of work for installation to reduce the impact on the normal operation of the site.

High impact tasks were detailed out with the Site Operations teams several months in advance, i.e. power outages, HVAC replacements, data interruptions, closure of occupant spaces, etc. Daily and weekly meetings with the Project management team, onsite crews, and Client representatives have created the vital real-time communication needed to keep construction and operations working simultaneously. The schedule for installation activities was also evaluated to increase manpower, extend shifts, additional days (Saturday/Sunday), and possible overnight hours to meet the needs of the Site’s Operation.
