Overview
The USPS Milford, Indiana Main Post Office project involved the design and construction of a new approximately 2,000 SF postal facility in downtown Milford, Indiana.
Process
Developed using USPS Customer Service Facility prototype standards, the project is replacing an aging facility with a modern, efficient post office designed to support retail services, postal operations, customer postal box access, and employee work areas while meeting current USPS requirements for accessibility, security, sustainability, and operational performance.
As a Design-Build delivery project, DLZ is serving as both the lead design consultant and lead contractor, providing integrated project management from concept through construction. Our multidisciplinary team delivered architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services, while coordinating demolition of the existing facility, construction of the new building, utility infrastructure, stormwater management, site development, parking, loading areas, exterior lighting, and ADA-compliant pedestrian access.
Results
Once completed, the facility will incorporate durable, low-maintenance materials and USPS-standard operational systems, creating a modern community asset that enhances customer experience, supports efficient postal operations, and provides long-term value for the United States Postal Service.
