Process
The project included concept design, construction and bid documents, and construction observation. This $5 million project transformed an existing 10-foot wide basic asphalt path into an 18-foot wide urban greenway and included development of multiple adjacent plazas and public spaces. The project includes extensive use of stone materials, unit pavers, and plantings.
Results
DLZ produced demolition, layout, planting, irrigation, structural and electrical plans, details and specifications. The final design included nearly an acre of unit pavers (granite, exterior porcelain, asphalt block, and clay), custom seating, custom limestone features, an artificial turf area, and extensive plantings. Primary construction was completed in September 2023. The final element of reconstruction of a redesigned existing plaza space was completed in 2024. The project was funded by Clay Township through a municipal bond and is owned and maintained by the City.
