DLZ is honored to receive the City of Columbus’ annual GreenSpotLight award. The award recognizes firms for their outstanding sustainability practices. The GreenSpot Program began in 2008 to inspire, educate and recognize those in our community who take steps to protect our environment.
DLZ won the award in the large business category. The medium and small organizations’ awards were presented to Accurate IT and CeraNet.
Commenting on the awards, Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther said, “In addition to strong, sustainable neighborhoods, we as a city want to work with our great partners in business and industry to lift sustainability as a core priority. The GreenSpotLight Award winners model sustainability in their operations and practices.”
The member organizations use the MyGreenSpot online tool to adopt and track their sustainability successes in water and energy conservation, waste reduction, green transportation, and educational outreach.
Columbus City Council member Emmanuel Remy, chair of the Council Environment Committee, recognized these businesses for their success. “Sustainability and a successful business go hand in hand. The GreenSpotLight winners are an example of what’s possible when sustainability is embraced,” Remy said.
DLZ congratulates all the firms that the City of Columbus recognizes under the GreenSpotLight awards for their valuable contributions to our community!

Join DLZ for a free, one-hour webinar to understand PFAS, or Poly- and Perfluorinated Alkyl Substances, a large group of manmade chemicals with useful physical properties. Considered an “Emerging Contaminant”, PFAS compounds are very stable and do not break down in the environment naturally like many other contaminants.
Why is PFAS a concern?
PFAS properties have a negative impact on the environment. These compounds are highly toxic with very low cleanup criteria. Since they do not easily break down by natural means, they remain in the environment for long periods of time. When animals or humans ingest these chemicals, they don’t get eliminated from the body easily. The compounds have been linked to health issues in humans when exposed even at very low concentrations (parts per trillion).
What Should Attendees Expect?
To gain an understanding of why PFAS is a concern, where it is found in the environment, and how to assess and mitigate PFAS impacts. DLZ has been involved in PFAS investigations and assessments since the onset of regulations and is active in site risk evaluation and mitigation.
Space is limited. Register today! Wednesday, February 24th, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. EST
Dale J. Corsi, PE, AAI
Project Engineer, Dale Corsi, PE, will discuss concerns associated with PFAS in the environment and the potential impacts to the use of surface water and groundwater resources, including potential human health effects, effects on biota, and management and treatment of contaminated water and soil. Mr. Corsi has more than 40 years of experience, including 12 years in chemical process design and operating experience. He has more than 28 years of environmental compliance and site remediation experience.
Ready to mitigate COVID-19? The attack on this country by COVID-19 has escalated with the onset of colder weather and the heating season. On Wednesday, January 27th at 12:00 pm EST, join DLZ for a one-hour webinar to get essential, yet simple, steps you can take to mitigate COVID-19. The webinar will focus on our current winter heating season. It’s designed to help the homeowner understand the risks of airborne transmission and preventative systems that can easily be implemented to help reduce the risk of transmission while sheltering in our homes.
This is a free webinar, and attendees will be eligible for one (1) Continuing Education credit. With the positivity percentages increasing daily across the region, it’s more important than ever to apply immediate solutions that can be effective in reducing the transmission of airborne COVID-19 while sheltering at home.

Are you discriminating against the hearing-impaired during virtual meetings? The Coronavirus pandemic has changed how government and educational institutions have maintained their operations. With an abrupt conversion from in-person meetings and instruction to virtual meetings, many agencies may unknowingly be discriminating against the hearing-impaired. Be our guest for a free, educational webinar Thursday, August 6th 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. EST.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that live and recorded meetings provide access to persons with hearing loss, which would include captioning or an ASL interpreter on video. Therefore, public agencies and educational institutions must not ignore their obligations to ensure that persons with disabilities are able to fully participate, whether live or recordings of live information. Most videoconferencing platforms have the ability to provide captioning but there may be additional costs or add-ons that are necessary.
DLZ’s ADA Expert, Stephen Metzer, will discuss the ADA requirements for online accessibility, with an emphasis on the capabilities of the most common video platforms like Zoom, WebEx, and Microsoft Teams. He will outline the steps every meeting host should consider to equip and prepare their organization in meeting virtual ADA requirements.
